A.C.I.S.
. agency of covert intelligence security
Not everything is as it seems...
ACIS is a secret U.S. government organization with minor branches in other countries. During its time as an official government organization, ACIS was responsible for operations such as sabotage, espionage and assassination. The government was seemingly protecting the agency's illegal activities when it silently went rogue under the current Overseer's management and began doing under the table murder-for-hire services. Many notable assassinations have been of people with political ties and high up in the government.
The agency essentially wanted to recruit people that they could mold into something new and supposedly better. They also looked for people who would be easy to control (such as a soldier accustomed to taking orders). However, a person's skills and loyalty often decided their fate within ACIS. They have been shown to recruit military, technician experts, politicians, hackers, and people on death row.
ACIS has many ranks and roles. One starts out as a recruit then graduates to become either a field agent or is granted an administrative position, depending upon one's skills. After that, the most "talented" may become a specialized agent such as a tech, cleaner, or guardian. Other agency roles include medic and Black Box Engineer.
Field agents can follow many paths in their particular category. They can join an alpha team, a survey team, a strike team, or go under cover in other organizations. Many field agents find it difficult to balance their civilian life and their agent life. Several agents have become emotionally attached to civilians, which is not only dangerous for the civilian but also the agent. ACIS forbids such attachments and has gone so far as to kill the civilians should an agent falter in his/her duties.
Techs (short for technician) are agents that have more technology talent than most others, and were therefore chosen to run the day to day technology of ACIS. Techs also supervise missions from Operations. They are also responsible for hacking any servers as well as security cameras, and communicating with agents while on mission via Bluetooth or cochlear implants.
Guard is one of many ACIS ranks. Recruits who are chosen to become guards are known to show leadership qualities, as well as being able to control other recruits. Guards often stay inside HQ after their graduation to keep the recruits under control, and have also been sent to safehouses and other agency buildings to keep watch or to stop a threat.
A cleaner means that the person holding that rank is responsible for "cleaning up" after ACIS ops; whether this is killing witnesses, disposing of evidence, killing romantic entanglements, etc.
A guardian is a rank within the agency held by highly-trained agents. They look after the black boxes, which are usually hidden in an almost impenetrable, high-security bank vault, or other highly undisclosed locations. Guardians are normally based around the area of where this vault is, and usually adapt to local life.
