The moment Marnie said she needed things from the house, Elena was on it. She stayed a couple minutes more at the hospital before she was leaving again, scurrying down that hallways in her wedge sandals and making it back out her car. It was true, she could be in and out with whatever her friend needed a lot faster than any cop could, but surprisingly, a cop came along anyway. Sorry, a detective.
They drove separately because she was going to have to get Mateo soon, but Detective Williams said he'd bring the items back to the hospital for Marnie. So, her shitty, silver Corolla pulled up along the sidewalk in front of Marina's before the engine was turned off and she climbed out.
Elena waited for Scott before she began to approach the front door, her keys jingling as she sought for the spare she had. "You really didn't need to come along," she assured him again, but that private, little grin on her face said otherwise. Look, he was cute, so obviously she didn't really mind it. Still, she hadn't wanted to take him away from Marnie, she needed all the protection she could get. Perhaps that was what the silent, broody suit was for. She still didn't know the man's name.

The rumble of that silver camero soon sounded as Detective Williams came around the corner and pulled up to the curb in front of Ms. Garder’s home. Given who her family was, he was a bit taken aback by how…small it was. It had that teacher esc charm to it with the bright sunny yellow pain and white trim with the spanish architecture. Her grass was green and she had large flowering plants, and what looked like a small outside pen for her rabbit, if he had to guess.
He’d all but insisted on going with Ms. Morales, as technically, she was going into a crime scene. And with a suspect at large that could come back to said crime scene? He wasn’t going two women in the hospital. Not when he didn’t have his man child to watch his back. He was being cautious and on the safe side. With Ms. Garder having her body guard, there was less a need for the police to watch over her, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t watch over her friends. Especially bunny-toting latina’s with a spicy personality.
He got out and locked up Winnie, before he approached Ms. Morales. He was chewing on a piece of gum, and he was a bit more relaxed knowing Emma was in safe hands with Nate and no longer with her grandparents. He grinned deeply as she said he didn’t need to come along, noting that cute little grin she flashed him. He put his hands in his slacks pockets, and shrugged a shoulder. “Sure did, you’re walking into a crime scene.” He glanced her over. “And unless you got a badge, teeeeechnically I can’t let you on the premises.” He pointed out. The forensic team would have his head if anything got messed with.
He moved up beside her, pulling his hands out of his pockets so one could rest on the holster at his hip in preparation. He held his hand out towards her for the keys. “Let me make sure it’s clear first, okay?” He asked her. The last thing he wanted was for her to get trampled by Travis Pembrooke on his way out, or worse.
