If Scotty was being honest, he could get into a hell of a lot of trouble with Burelson. But, the Jersian was known for following his gut on occasion, and even the logistical side of his brain said he would need him. Scotty was a good cop, but he was a greater cop when he had a certain angry gorilla at his side.
And Scotty needed that big headed monkey.
The case made him uneasy. A one, Miss Marnie Gardner, daughter of hot shot Real Estate Agent Vincent Gardner, was now in a domestic dispute and her boyfriend (one Scotty hoped she had the brains to drop like a hot potato) was still at large. It would have been any day on the job if it wasn't high profile and the boyfriend wasn't Travis Pembrooke, the son of another big time Financer in L.A. He internally groaned at the issues of the upper class, and he could barely make his rental payments. He would admit one thing however, Marnie Garder was not someone he pegged as socially elite. She was far too down to earth from what he'd seen of her place, and her best friend- that fiery little Latina toting that bunny around, wasn't so bad either. Just thinking of that grin Elena Morales had, made him grin as well.
He shook his head, heaving a sigh as he cleared his mind. He was planning on going to search Pembrooke's yaht at the local marina, and he needed someone who knew the area to give him the tour or else he'd be lost for hours. Or so he told himself. More then that, he just wanted someone he truly trusted to watch his back.
He hoped Penny wouldn't ring his neck, but if they were having shared custody of their man child, then it was Dad's weekend, dammit.
As he walked down to the main floor for the city jurisdiction, he whistled quietly to himself. Keeping an eye out for that mane of wild dark curls, as he leaned slightly over to the side to see down the line of cubicles. He could see Penny standing in front of hers, a file in her hand as she seamed to be talking to someone- that someone he could only assume was Nate, and quietly watched for a few minutes.
Scotty narrowed his eyes slightly at Detective McCarthy, having worked with her a bit when he first moved here six months ago, and he thought he'd gotten to know her pretty well. She made a mean sandwich and she'd even watched Emma once or twice and if the monkey loved her then she was alright in his books. He studied her posture, noticing how tense her shoulders were and that though there was what almost looked like a smile on her face, there was something else. She was rolling her eyes before shaking her head before she said something, and the look on her face showed she wasn't happy. He couldn't hear what she said but he could hear the raise of her voice.
She was walking away then. Her gestures sharp as she tucked the file she had under her arm and then proceeded to stalk down isle. Scotty quickly ducked down and away, using the water cooler as cover as she walked passed him. He held his breath for a few seconds, waiting to make sure she didn't come back, before he was suddenly moving.
Keeping his head low, he moved quickly down the cubicles until he found Nate's. Keeping himself lowered, he looked back down the way he came to make sure the coast was still clear before he covered the side of his mouth. "Pssst!!" He said loudly, peaking slightly around the opening of the cubicle. "Pppssssst!!!!" He said a bit louder. Once he got Nate's attention he motioned with his hand for him to come closer as he was crouched outside the cubicle. "Keep your head down, or your goin' ruin it!" He whispered at him. He leaned back to do one more look before his blue eyes darted to Nate, and then the Jersian started to grin at him as if he'd won the lottery. And if he knew Nate, he'd feel like he had.
"I don't think we have much time until the Warden gets back, consider this your jail break." Scotty told him quickly before a grin spread across his face. "I need your help, Jail Bird."
