The moment he stood up and ran after Marie, the bullets began to fly. Nat was supposed to make it seem like the shooter was after Ms. Walsh, not him...but, regardless, in the heat of the moment, the woman wasn't going to know the shots weren't "aimed" for her. She would still hear them, she'd still be terrified, and not know the sniper was trying to make the agent dance like a damn monkey.
Johnny growled in annoyance before he reached the safety of the building's wall, only to notice the other assailant making his way over, his gun trained up. Ugh, god dammit, okay. He was instantly pushing off the brick to bring his arm down onto the other's, causing him to drop his aim before Johnny's opposite elbow slammed against the side of his head.
Down went Jacob, and Agent Cordello was quickly wrangling the gun out of his grasp. Oh, the blow hadn't been faked, either, and he knew Jake was going to be beyond pissed later about it. "Sorry, man," he whispered, staking claim to the pistol. "I owe ya another hundred now." Jacob glared at him, but he didn't linger long. Turning to Marie, he was grabbing her by the arm to begin running down the street.
That probably would have been enough to sell this whole thing, but his comrades weren't satisfied. Screeching wheels brought a black Mercedes around the corner, speeding in their direction as one of the darkly tinted windows began to roll down. Instead of waiting to be shot at, Johnny led Marie down the first available alleyway before proceeding down one adjacent. Then he stopped abruptly, pushing her back against the safety of the wall and shield her as he listened; a finger pressed to his lips in gesture for her to stay silent. Except for the echoes of typical traffic on the nearby streets and a couple of birds, there were no sounds of footsteps.
The pursuit was over. Hopefully.
Those dicks.
Attention finally turned to her while he slipped that newly acquired pistol into his waistband at his back. "You alright?" he asked while he sought for breath.
