Erin wondered if she’d jinxed herself thinking they were in the home free for a moment. Hoping that the third person would have gotten away, or was somewhere else. Unfortunately, they were right behind her. She could feel the heat of that gun from its discharge minutes before pressed into the back of her head, and she froze in fear. A “you’ve got be kidding me” look showed on her face for a brief moment before she lowered the tray she held down.
She didn’t recognize the voice, and her eyes were on Carter. Looking for any sign of what they should do. It would have been easy to just let defeat take over, but Erin wasn’t one to be defeated so easily. She instead put on the brave face despite how many times she’d had a gun pointed at her today.
She winced as the barrel was pressed harder against her head and she was roughly shoved towards the corner. Carters touch to her arm was something she didn’t realize she needed. Her little reminder that she wasn’t alone, and for once someone knew what the hell they were doing. Or she at least hoped they did. She stood in the corner, looking up at Carter as he acted as her shield. Standing in front of him with his full height, she realized just how much he dwarfed her from sight.
She caught his gaze briefly. Managing just the smallest of nod. He was busy looking somewhere else. Then, while the men talked. The one Carter had taken down moments before was clearly pissed, climbing to his knees and making promises that Carter was going to pay for it. She remembered the scalpel in her pocket then and reached in for it.
“Where’s Nick did you find him?” The first shooter asked. The doctor was still pointing his weapon at Carter, ensuring he didn’t do anything he wasn’t.
“I shot him, he blew the whole operation, and now we have witnesses.” He hissed. Clearly displeased by how this all had gone down. “Get the drugs and let's go.” He ordered the other man.
Sighing in relief that she was partially covered from sight, she was careful as she reached up and placed a hand on his chest to get his attention. The scalpel hidden beneath her palm. “Didn’t think I’d be doing this on my Saturday.” She said quietly. She made sure she had caught his gaze, giving him a small nod, before the sound of something impacting hard against the other doctor filled the air.
