Erin was currently in the supply room, looking for a pair of crutches she knew they kept somewhere in the room. Once she found them she brought them out, pocketing the ace wrap in her light blue scrub top as she made her way back to the patient with the sprained ankles room.
Man the ER was busy today, nearly every room was full and from what she could tell the lobby wasn’t looking much better. Ooooh goodie, just how she wanted to spend her Thursday. Most everyone here had a case of the flu who all thought they were “dying” when really it was just common cold and could easily be dealt with, with fluids and good nights rest. But some people liked to be dramatic.
The ankle was a nice change of pace for sure, and she was glad to have gotten over Terry who made it seem like she was in a race for the best case of the shift. It caused Erin to nearly roll her eyes. Being mindful of where people were coming and going, she navigated her way around. Seeing the chief of the ER on the phone, talking in a hushed tone. He seemed to be getting agitated and she looked at him curiously, but didn’t stop before she was pulling the curtain back on room 3. “Look what I found!” She said with a smile to the gentleman on the bed with the mountain of pillows propped up under his ankle. She waved the crutches at him before she leaned them against the wall. “How’s the pain so far?” She asked. She glanced over at his friend that had brought him. “Much better now you’re here doc.” Her grin widened and she chuckled at her patient. “He always like this?” She asked the patient's friend with a teasing smile as she started pulling the ace bandage out of her scrub pocket. Since she'd come in an introduce herself Mr. Leibermen had been a hardcore flirt. It was cute in a harmless way, and she didn't mind in the slightest. She'd take his harmless flirting to the creepy flirting of the creepy old men she deal with on occasion.
She began to take it out of the packaging before she started to wrap it his ankle. Tommy winced, and started to grumble under his breath, which caused her to look over to his friend. “I might send you guys home with some pain meds, he sprained it pretty bad. They’ll help with the pain and make him less whiny.” She whispered over to him in good humor. “Uh nooo, if anyone’s whining Cawtaaah is after I kicked his BUTT in mario cart. I’m telling ya doc, never let that man drive.” Mr. Liebermen felt the need to point out to her as he waved a finger at his friend.
According to the story she’d been told, Tommy had been far to excited about a new video game that had just come out and had ran up to the house after returning from the store. Wanting to cut corners, he’d felt the need to prove that he could in fact jump over the front yard fence like it was a hurdle. Just when he’d cleared the white picket fence, his back foot had clipped it and he went crashing to the ground and rolled his ankle rather badly in the process. Erin chuckled, “Well, they’ll still help with pain and keep you comfortable.” She told him.
