Post by Det. Yue Zhang on Jul 8, 2021 2:31:21 GMT
Name :: Yue Zhang
Birthday :: February 29th, 1988
Age :: 31
HEIGHT :: 5'3
WEIGHT :: 121
EYE COLOR :: Brown
HAIR COLOR :: Black
Hometown :: Los Angeles
Occupation :: Missing Persons Detective
Notable Markings: various moles, most notably one behind her left ear about the diameter of a pencil eraser.
Appearance: A petite Chinese-American woman with long hair and a perpetually irritated expression. She has perfect posture and perfect form when shooting her weapon. She prefers to dress professionally for work in white blouses and black or grey pants. She detests high heels.
Personality: Most people see Yue as obnoxiously detail-oriented. She's extremely organized and notices when things are out of place or unusual, even in the workplace. She has startled several coworkers by noticing that something is the matter when they are purposefully trying to hide it.
With children she can be quite awkward although her intentions are good--she was never a "normal" child, so she feels she doesn't understand them. She's better with adults, particularly women. She treats the family members of missing people with compassion and respect, and never discounts any information they want to share with her.
Her coworkers haven't realized yet that she is the one who will leave things on their desk when they need it--decent coffee when they are exceptionally tired, cough drops or tissues when they are sick, money when they are having a hard time. She keeps it a secret on purpose.
Background:
Yue is a second-generation American; her mother left an abusive husband with her baby and fled to the US. She worked as a house cleaner for low wages but made sure that her daughter always had what she needed. She didn't press her daughter to be perfect, the way stereotypes suggest, rather, she urged her daughter to always do her best, whatever she tried. Yue cycled through several sports and other hobbies, but she found that brain teasers and puzzles were the things she enjoyed most. She's especially fond of Sudoku and Nonograms.
She actually enjoyed school and didn't have to be pushed to do well--she liked the praise she got from teachers, even if fellow students often picked on her for being a teacher's pet. After school she worked with her mother, cleaning houses.
She became interested in working with the police after a fellow student at her high school was kidnapped and she was interviewed. This triggered a fixation on the police and crime-solving that never went away. She tore through all the material she could get her hands on--fiction and nonfiction.
She went to college for Criminal Justice, and that was that. She worked her way up the ranks and has been a detective in the missing person division for 3 years.
