As promised, Janie gathered the girls to head to St. John's. It was only a few days since she spoke with Iago, and it was mainly because they had to play it safe, go at a normal pace and keep a good eye out for any potential threats. The boys were good at laying low but, then again, they had just done some pretty stupid shit before.
If you were to ask Janie, that is.
That wasn't the only reason why she was mostly quiet the entire trip, but whenever one of the Diosas asked, she claimed everything was fine, that she was "just tired". Jeff's death was still a shock, speaking to Rivi was still a shock- she didn't know what to make of any of it for right now. All she knew was that she had to get to her boys. They needed her help, they needed more than just her help, and she was honestly terrified that she and the girls might have been too slow.
"I'll check it out first," she told them, climbing out of their current rental. Nisha had parked them some ways down the street but a straight line through some tall, unkempt bushes, they would be able to see the front door. Drawing in a deep breath, she casually made her way down the street, slinging her bag a little more comfortably onto her shoulder before approaching the door.
Quietly, she knocked. Not once, but four times in a particular order and waited.

In the few days that followed after that phone call, Tango had been forming a plan. They couldn't go rushing in, they had to precise, practical, methodical, and make sure they had clear heads. They needed Janie and her girls, and Iago hadn't hid it from his brothers, making sure they knew who he was bringing in on this. People they trusted and who they knew could be trusted. It was probably eating away at Dom to wait, but if they wanted Ella they were going to have to be safe about it. And if from what Dom said about the phone call, they wouldn't risk hurting her if they ever wanted to see that money. At least hurt her that badly....
It was a concern that Iago hadn't voiced yet, but hoped it was on the minds of the others. With the boys laying low, the only thing they could do now was wait for Miss Solar. The thought of Janie brought a tightness to his chest, and he tried to get her off his mind, but it was difficult. He didn't know when she'd bee arriving, so Iago was constantly on a alert, rarely sleeping. He was checking the windows nearly every hour, and pacing like a caged animal.
When those four particular knocks came, he'd been walking by to the kitchen, and nearly jumped out of his skin. He grew tense, and whistled towards the living room to get the boy's attention before he moved to the door. He drew back the curtain a bit to see who was there, and saw the tall brunette on the step.
He felt himself relax, and moved to the door. Unlocking it before he quietly opened the door a bit. One hand rested on the doorframe as he looked at her. The relief on his face was evident as a small smile spread across his face. It'd felt years, rather then weeks since he'd seen her in the clothes store that day, and he could only imagine what the boys would look like to her. All of them were a new level of exhausted with heavy clouds over their heads.
"Thanks for coming, Sunshine." He murmured quietly in greeting.
It couldn't have been any more than a few seconds before she noticed the flutter of the curtain, and her hand immediately reached into that bag and gripped the handle of her gun. She hadn't seen who it was, and she was strangely on edge which only intensified in the next several seconds when that door opened.
And Rivi stood there with that gentle smile on his face. Why did she suddenly forget how to breathe?
Finally, she offered a small smile of her own but it didn't quite reach her eyes. Then, before she could forget, she turned her head to show her face a little over her shoulder, tucking a strand of her ear slowly behind her ear. That was the signal for the others girls that it was okay to come on over.
Regarding Iago again, her brow inched together in a look of concern. And in true Janie fashion, she rushed forward to embrace him tightly. "Always," she told him quietly, feeling like her voice might crack before noticing the other three from over his shoulder. Dom was slipping his own gun away, looking like he hadn't slept in a year. And Danny was resting on the larger couch, slowly inching to sit up properly but clearly couldn't.
Janie drew back, looking between all of them now and sighed heavily, just possessing less sarcasm than usual. "What am I gonna do with you boys, hmm?"
Demi slipped up behind her friend just as she finished her sentence, just the hint of a wry smile lingering on her lips.
"You're going to swoop in and save the day, obviously," she joked, bumping Janie with her hip as she passed into the house.
She scanned the other men with a sharp eye, quickly noticing Danny's condition. Her lips pressed into a thinner line, that almost-smile vanishing. Not only had they lost one, this one was still suffering. She'd anticipated him needing some care, of course; that was why she'd made sure they had the supplies for Gabby to use. But for him to look so miserable? It drove home exactly how bad things were.
She shook off her irritation quickly, deciding there was no use dwelling on the men's past failures. It was time to move forward.
"Ay, Senorita Mendoza~" Her accent was impeccable as she turned over her shoulder and called to Gabby, gesturing with a long arm for the shyest diosa to come to her. "You have a patient!"
She dropped her duffle bag of supplies on the couch near the man, rummaging inside for her tablet so she could get to work evaluating the situation. She wasn't sure if the men had been using the internet or not (it would be smarter for them to have avoided it, frankly) but with her encrypted device and a few tricks she'd learned from an old friend, she ought to be able to do so safely.
Eager to begin, she looked to Dom as she pulled up her favorite mind map tool. "Fill us in?"
Josh followed the sound of voices out to the living room and visibly brightened when he saw the women arriving. He knew Tango had called for help, but somehow he hadn't realized just how much of a relief it would be to see these capable, beautiful women striding in like they owned the place. Well, all but one--the woman from before, the one who'd been trying on swimsuits--she looked a bit nervous, though not as much as before.
"Welcome to hell in a hamsterball, ladies!" he greeted them jovially, despite knowing it would earn him some dirty looks.
The blonde woman appeared to be taking charge already, just by the way she moved and spoke. He wondered if that was her job, or if she was just bossy.
"Ay, Senorita Mendoza~" Her accent was impeccable as she turned over her shoulder and called to Gabby, gesturing with a long arm for the shyest diosa to come to her. "You have a patient!"
Josh's eyebrows rose as his gaze flickered between his big brother and Gabby. She was a nurse? Somehow that made sense, actually; she might be shy, but he got the feeling that she was still a warm person, just by the way the other 'diosas' had treated her.
Nisha brought up the rear of the girls as they followed in after Janie with their gear. Her heels clicked against the pavement as she moved towards to the door. Her eyes looked around their surroundings, glancing over her shoulder as she entered to ensure they weren't being followed.
She carried with her a small cooler and several bags that she carried like the fashion pro she was. Nisha Chandra didn't know the meaning of the "pack light" and given where she'd been the last year? The girl deserved retail therapy.
She moved out from behind Gabby in the doorway as Demi called the shyer diosa over, and Nisha was already looking for the kitchen. "I've been in hell, it's not a hamsterball babe, it's a blender with knives." She remarked casually as her heels clicked on the wood floor and she passed Josh to the kitchen. She sat the cooler down on a counter and then sat her bags down, before she pulled the sparkly scrunchie off her wrist and started to pile her hair up into a ponytail ontop of her head. She pushed the sunglasses up onto the top of her head soon after and started to unpack the cooler. Gabby's insulin was the first thing into the fridge, soon followed by the small grocery store stop she'd made the girls do on the way over.
She didn't trust any of the men to know how to cook proper meals (despite Janie mentioning something about Tango). "Gabby if you need an extra set of hands, let me know!" She called from the kitchen. She might not have done it in a few years, but Nisha had started her military career as an air medic before they let her fly the big guns.
"Ah-Wha?" Gabby said surprised as she tried heaving her heavy backpack onto her shoulder as she came into the door. She heard Demi call out to her, and she was pushing her glasses up onto her nose. Blinking in surprise when her eyes went to Demi. "Where?" She asked, shyly looking around for signs of an injured person. Now that was certainly something she could help with. In a way she was eager to make herself useful, but another part of her was sad that she was even needed. She didn't want Janie's boy's to be hurt, that would make her sad wouldn't it?
She started to shuffle in and shyly waved to the men standing around that seamed to be coming out of the wood work. She recognized most of them except for one that hadn't been at the store that day.
Once she was directed to who needed the medical attention, Gabby nodded, and slowly sat her bag down before she retrieved the first aide kit she'd requested they pick up.
Her head looked towards the kitchen as Nisha called out to her, and she felt a little bit of her nerves relaxing. Right, patient. She could do this. It wasn't about her feelings, but about Danny's and making sure he felt okay.
Gabby would come over and sit herself down on the coffee table in front of him. Offering him a shy smile. "Hola, Can I see where you're hurt?" She asked. Her accent was still thick, but she tried her best. She tried to force herself to keep eye contact, but even after the practice she put herself through, she found it still hard. She would only hold Danny's eye for a few seconds before her browns averted.
Iago's eyes drifted to beyond Janie's shoulder as she looked behind her and tucked the hair behind her ear. Almost instantly the diosas seemed to come crawling out of the woodwork as they trailed inside, and then Janie did what she did best, and pulled him in for a hug. His arms went easily around her. His eyes squeezed shut as he let out a heavy breath and then gave her a tight squeeze before he let her go.
He was certainly happier to see her, but his mood wasn't quite where it should have been. He was somber, even more reserved as he motioned her in and closed the door behind Nisha. Promptly locking it again. He pulled his cap off his head then, and ran a hand through his shaggy hair, before putting it back in it's usual place.
The ladies seemed to each get down to business the moment they arrived, going to do what they could at the moment. His shoulders sagged in relief slowly. Visibly showing the tension leaving his frame. He glanced at Dom, and then Demi, before his eyes went back to Janie. Motioning for her to go make herself at home before he went and planted himself in a corner chair.
