After hanging up with Rivi, Janie just rested there on the bed and stared up at the ceiling for a few minutes. She felt weird. Not necessarily sick, just...weird, like she didn't know how to feel. Finding out that the men she trusted had been the cause for Lorenzo's house fire, that they had tried to pull something off that was both impressive and completely fucking stupid, that Danny had been shot, Jeff had been killed...It was as if all of it was finally catching up to her at once and she was fully comprehending it.
Iago's words were also echoing in her head and she couldn't seem to let that go.
Finally blinking and drawing in a slow breath, Janie climbed back up to her feet to leave her room and follow the voices of the others gathered in the living room of the small house they were renting temporarily. She lingered in the open doorway, leaning against it lazily. "I have another job for us," she spoke up, a little hesitant...and Janie was never hesitant like this. It was clear something was bothering her. "I just got a call from Rivi, and something happened..."
Demi's frown was heavy as she caught wind of Janie's demeanor. She straightened from where she'd been draped over the arm of the sofa and fixed Janie with a serious stare. If she were honest with herself, half her instincts were crying out for her to rush to her friend and pull her into a hug. Something had shaken her dearest sunshine, and Demi couldn't allow that.
"If your friends are in trouble, of course, we'll help. But we'll need details, dolly." She didn't consider denying her, not even for a second. They were working on a larger investigation, obviously, but Janie could walk into battle with a smile. If she was nervous like this, something was seriously wrong.

Nisha sat on the couch with a magazine, idly flipping through it even though she wasn't actually looking at anything, but rather just giving her hands something to do. The diosas were currently at a stand still, trying to find their next lead since the Lorenzo's house had gone up in fumes. Her dark eyes looked over the top of the magazine to glance at Gabby who was in the kitchen, currently making cookies. Giving her something to do. The glamour diosa felt for her. Knowing it wasn't easy with a parent missing or gone for that matter. Her mind wandered to her father, and her nose scrunched in distaste, as she idly wondered if she should call her brother. She knew she had too, but she also didn't want to cause him problems, considering she was no and escaped convict... And a dangerous one at that.
She clenched her jaw as Janie came out, her eyes going to the other woman. Like Demi, she could tell something was off with the other woman. "What is it?" She asked immediately, tossing the magazine to the side as Janie said she had another job for them. At least it would keep them busy, and hopefully, give Nisha something to take her frustrations out on. That need to hit something, or someone who actually deserved it was a constant itch in the back of her brain that needed to be scratched.
She sat up a bit higher in her seat, crossing her legs while she waited expectantly for Janie to get on with the details. She could hear Gabby set the timer on those cookies and then timid woman quietly wandered over.

She had felt the sting of tears when speaking with Iago, but the moment she got off the phone with him, the moment she really thought about everything he had said, her wall began to really crumble. She loved those idiots with all of her heart, and one of the them was gone. The others could be lost, too, because she knew they would attempt whatever this stunt was next with or without help. Clearly they had no choice.
And neither did she now. She wasn't about to let them do it alone.
Still, she had prior obligations, and she had not forgotten nor would she abandon her girls, either. Maria was still out there and needed them.
Swallowing a harsh lump in her throat, she felt a single tear finally fall down her cheek, and she caught it quickly with her fingers. "My boys need help," she said outright. "Jeff was...he was killed, and Danny was shot." They hadn't met Jeff, but Janie had certainly spoken of him on occasion, especially after the run-in with the other three at the store. "Dominic's informant was taken, and he's ready to be a bloody idiot again and charge in blindly to get her back."
She had to pause, feeling the swell of emotion within her chest, suppressing a sob as best as she could. "I wouldn't ask this of any of you, but-" Those dark eyes glinting with unshed tears flickered to each woman individually, trying to gauge their feelings on this sudden mess. And Janie was about to drop a bomb.
"They were the one's that burned Lorenzo's place down."
Demi listened patiently; she wasn't weighing whether or not to do this job. No, she had been ready to get to work the moment she saw Janie's face. What she was doing was constructing a plan. And in one of Demi's plans, every detail mattered.
Jeff they hadn't met, but she remembered Danny--the quiet one, who she'd decided she liked right away. A kindred spirit in the other group, she'd thought. And Dominic, hadn't he been away on a 'date' when they'd run into the others? It must be the same woman who was now abducted.
How foolish, to get attached...And yet, could she really blame him? She'd done it herself, once upon a time.
There was only one part that truly surprised Demi.
"They were the one's that burned Lorenzo's place down."
Demi felt like a different filter had just been placed over everything she knew. Those men hadn't been on just any mission--they'd been preparing to rob Lorenzo. And they'd gotten away with the money, presumably, but lost one of their own and had another injury in the process. And now the informant, the only loose end, had been captured. Sloppy.
She sighed through her nose.
"Alright, so that just means we need them alive more than ever, yeah? They saw the inside, and they might have information we don't."
Nisha had similar thoughts with Demi as she sat there quietly. A spark of surprise crossed her otherwise blank face as Janie told them that the boys they'd met at the shop was the cause for Lorenzo's. Her dark eyes flickered to Demi and then Gabby who was attempting to grasp what this all meant for her.
It was the lead she'd been hoping they'd get, and here it was, being handed to them on a silver platter. She found herself rising out of her seat, and she came over to Janie. She'd lost a friend, and she could see it in her eyes she was trying to be strong, but the tear and slight quaver in her voice told the Hindi woman otherwise.
If she allowed, Nisha would pull her into a tight hug. Using a hand to rub her back gently to try and comfort her. "We've lost too many, no more." She murmured. She rested her hands on her shoulders and then leaned back. "This is good news yeah? They need us, and we need them. A rescue mission is a piece of cake for us." She said with a grin.

Even after Rivi had explained, it was still very difficult to comprehend or believe...but he had never lied to her before, and they had seen the house with their very eyes. They had robbed Lorenzo, and in turn, Alimov as well, maybe even others. Right now, they didn't have those details, but it couldn't be what she dwelled on now.
"They saw the inside," she reiterated to Demi with a light nod, feeling her voice begin to crack. Nisha was walking up to her, immediately trying to offer comfort, and Janie almost didn't want to give in. Something about this whole situation, though, was striking a different nerve, something she didn't quite understand.
Bending down, she rested her head upon her friend's shoulder. "I wouldn't...ask this of any of you if it wasn't bad, if it didn't help Maria..." As much as she loved those boys, Maria and the girls had to come first, she knew. But as Nisha said, they could use each other's help. "They're in St. John's right now. I just don't know...what we're really walking into," she confessed. It may not be a piece of cake.
"Janie," Demi began sternly, crossing her arms over her chest as she gave her friend a serious look. "You stop that, right now. No more 'I wouldn't ask' and explanations or apologies. You're family. One of us."
She reached for @gabby, gesturing for the younger girl to come sit with her. And, without saying so, including her in that family. Gabby was one of them, too. And she meant what she was saying as a permanent, universal truth to any of her girls. She was there for them, whatever they needed. Any day, any time, anything. She would be at their side.
"If you want to save these men, then we're doing it. No questions asked." She looked to Nisha for confirmation, then to Gabby. "Right?"
Nisha couldn't agree more with the blonde. The women in the room and the woman currently missing was all Nisha had to a true family. There was nothing she wouldn't do for any of them, even if they had take their sweet time of getting her out of prison. That could be forgiven. Anyone else who dared to harm them or those they cared about?
Not so much.
Nisha smiled, wrapping an arm around Janie's side to hold her close, as Gabby slowly came over to Demi's side. She was quiet as usual, and her fear was clear, but they didn't really have an option now did they? If the boys had burned down Lorenzo's then they really were their only hope in finding Alimov. It was Gabby though, that surprised Nisha a bit more, as she nodded along to what Demi said. "S-si." The timid woman agreed, and she offered a shy smile at Janie.
"I-i-if one's been shot, Maybe I can be of assistance?" She asked, looking between the three of them. Nisha had an inkling Gabby was struggling with trying to make herself useful. She wasn't like them who had made this their living. She wanted to help in the way that she could, and Nisha respected her for that.

Their words kept those tears from falling, and she smiled softly at them. She was always so grateful to them, and like those men, Janie had been through a lot with these women as well. Gabby was new to the group, but that didn't mean she didn't consider her a part of this family as well. Clearly, the original Diosas shared the same sentiment.
"Thank you," she whispered. At Gabby's suggestion, she nodded. "From what I know, Danny is okay but they likely couldn't go to a hospital." Bullet holes brought up questions, and it was obvious that they would have wanted to avoid that.
Gabriella's brief Spanish had her recall something, and she stood up a little straighter. She was slightly nervous again, which was a rarity, but she thought she should ask- or, well, it was more like the curiosity would eat away at her.
"Gabby?" she spoke up, her voice still quiet as she still leaned against Nisha. "Do you know what...'te quiero con-" Janie paused, trying to recall what she thought Rivi had said. "'...todo mi corazón' means?" The moment she asked, she felt her stomach do a somersault.
Gabby was certainly nervous about everything, but she trusted that these ladies knew what they were doing and that they would find Mama. They were after all, her only hope.
She nodded her head at hearing about Danny. Making mental notes on what to make sure she had with her when the time came to look him over. Now that was something she could do. Something she felt certainly confident in.
As Janie called her name, she pulled herself out of her mind, blinking in surprise while Janie asked her question. She was a bit surprised by it, as it felt a bit random, and she canted her head. What Janie said was something her father had actually told Mama on occasion when she’d been home. Why she was asking now felt like something out of left field. But if she was asking it meant something important right? And Gabby wanted to be helpful.
She nodded her head, glancing at Nisha and Demi before her eyes settled back on Janie. “It means, I love you with all heart.” She explained. Her brows furrowed more and she blinked at the other woman. “Why?” She asked curiously.
She saw Nisha’s head turn to assess Janie, raising a brow at her as if she knew something Gabby didn’t, and Gabby looked up at Demi to see if she knew what she clearly didn’t.
Demi's eyebrows rose a fraction of an inch, but she refrained from any bigger reaction than that, despite the rather interesting translation she'd just heard. So, this friend of hers was more than a friend, hm? She'd had an inkling of something like that, just by the force of Janie's own reactions, but for him to be confessing his love in languages he knew Janie didn't speak? The guy had it bad. He'd just underestimated her memory, and her team. A rookie mistake, underestimating the Diosas.
Still, she actually hoped it would end well for the two of them. Janie deserved to be happy, and if she cared this much about this 'Rivi' person, then he must be worth saving.
When Gabby looked to her, she flashed the young woman a quick wink.
"Sounds like we have our work cut out for us, ladies," she commented, just a hint of laughter brushing around the edges of her tone.
She didn't know why she asked. Something told her to just leave it alone, make up her own translation to Rivi's words but Janie couldn't stop the question from falling off her tongue. And she felt strange and stupid to even ask it.
Then, it somehow got worse.
That olive complexion seemed to pale as she stood up straight very slowly, watching Gabriella as if she'd said something completely insane. Well, because she had, right? Was Janie just imagining things now? After finding out what her boys had done, that one of them was gone, that Danny could have also been killed...this on top of it? Surely Iago didn't mean it in that sense.
Well, how was she supposed to take those words?
Janie was probably standing there in a daze for a few seconds too long, her mouth parting while she attempted to find words that just weren't there. She couldn't look at any of them suddenly.
She hadn't heard Gabby's simple question, only registering part of Demi's words that followed. It caused her to finally blink and swallow a hard lump within her throat. "We...we should leave as soon as possible," she managed to say, and her voice sounded so quiet. It sounded foreign to her own ears.
"Excuse me," she barely whispered as she drifted from Nisha's side to find the back door. She needed some air.
